If you`re not doing these 13 things, you`re not progressing exponentially!

There are two ways to progress: incrementally or exponentially.

Both require the same amount of time or resource input, but the output is significantly different. 

And you can choose today to move ahead much more faster. It is your choice. But you will need to start doing things differently. 

And it all starts with being more responsible with the time that we actually have.

Did you know that the average North American spends 38 minutes per day on Facebook? 

38 Minutes. Per day. That`s absolutely insane. Let´s do the math real quick:

38 mins x 7 days = 266 minutes = 4.4 hours per Week

= 17.7 hours per month = 212 hours per year

212 hours = 8.8 full days, 24/7


On Facebook alone.

That’s not exact numbers depending on how many days in the year, buy you get the point…

That is almost an ENTIRE month of work per year!

So when we`re talking about how to progress so much faster, the starting point is always time. And how could you actually save time wasted on non-essentials? 

How could you allocate more time into yourself, your relationships and the pursuits that fuel your Joy, Creativity and Progress?

We got to take command of our Time. It´s our most precious resource. 

Because there`s absolutely no way you will ever get it back. Even if you plan on living until 180 years old!

What could you do with almost an entire month of 8-Hour Workdays?

How much more progress could you accumulate by simply taking back command of your time?

And that`s only the starting point. 

Once you`ve got your time back, now let`s really talk how you`re going to progress so much faster in your Life.

1. Take absolute personal Responsibility

“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does. It is up to you to give life a meaning.” — Jean-Paul Sartre

The first step is always to be real. Always.

We need to take absolute personal Responsibility of our lives. We got to take Command. That´s key.

And let´s face it: you`re exactly where your current thinking, feeling and doing has led you to. Maybe that`s exceptional. Or disappointing.

But either way, for the next Level we need to reach a new Level of thinking, feeling and doing. And it all starts with taking personal Responsibility of our lives.

Taking Power back!

So often, we give away our power to outer circumstances. To other people, to our own ethincity, heritage, circumstances, age or anything else that acts as an excuse. 

Now, might they be valid?


But is it helpful? 

Not really. 

But by taking absolute personal Responsibility of everything in your life, guess what you have?

Power over everything in your Life. Everything you ever want to achieve and do and experience is within your control. You can do something about it.

And let me tell you something: you´re absolutely right it is hard sometimes to acknowledge where you came short. But that is also Freedom.

Because now you can do better next time. Now you`re not reliant on your excuses, but your own Power.

The first step is always to take Power back. If you haven`t done it yet, give yourself this gift right now and don`t accept any excuses in your Life anymore. 

Anything you ever desire is possible. But you`re only going to get there, if you take full control of your own Destiny!

2. A big Vision

The only way to live a big life is to create it.

It`s that simple.

You absolutely need to know where you`re going. And in order to get there, you first have to allow yourself to dream bigger than you ever believe to be possible. Because big dreams force you to do things differently.

A big dream forces you to stop dabbling immediately.

A big dream forces you to remove non-essentials.

A big dream forces you to focus on what truly matters.

But if you`re unclear on what you actually want, you`ll always stay stuck at where you are right now. Because you`ll never do anything different. You`ll never even ask what the next level could look like.

Dream bigger. Dream unreasonably. And then set goals, craft your Strategy and take Actions immediately.

Your dream is waiting for you.

Now is the time to claim it!

3. Clear Goals

“Dreams are great. In fact, dreams are necessary in life or no one would ever go anywhere! But a dream without a goal, and without action, has no opportunity to come true.” — Denzel Washington

Now that you have a big Vision, let`s be strategic. In order to stay on track with your Vision, you now need to set some goals.

And those goals need to be big (they need to be a real stretch) and specific (so you can clearly measure whether you achieved it or not).

Right now, think about your next one to three projects you want to work on. Which is #1? Which do you want to work on first?

For each individual project, follow the following process:

Step #1: How would doing this Project with Excellence look like? What would make it the Best-In-The-World(Product/Service/Idea/etc.)?

Define what would make that project successful. The best-case-scenario.

Step #2: How much time are you going to need to accomplish that project?

Now shorten that timeline. Make it really challenging and a little bit uncomfortable. Set the Deadline. Schedule it in the Calendar.

Step #3: In the next step, I want you to determine the five major moves to accomplish that project. And yes, everything can be broken down into five major moves.

Research, Creation, Testing, Launch, Scale!

Each of these five moves had an individual goal of what needed to be accomplished and in which way it needed to be done. And it had a deadline when it needed to be done.

For Example, the Research-Phase looked like this:

Invest in the 3 Best-Habits-Courses in the Marketplace and see what they`re doing. How can I do that even better and unique? What would make my Course the absolute Best in the world?

Read 5 more books on Habits, Willpower, Environment and Neuroscience.

Brainstorm on everything that you`ve ever learned about Habits. Is there an underlying pattern that determines success?

Learn more about Curriculum-Design. Go back to your notes from previous Trainings.

I think you get the idea. The more Clarity you have, the faster you will be able to go.

Just remember: “Hope is not a strategy.” (Vince Lombardi)

So craft your Goals and your Plan now. Then move forward.

4. Measure your Progress

“What gets measured gets improved.” — Peter Drucker

If you`re not measuring how you`re doing in all the major areas of your Life, you`re definitely leaving so much on the table.

I mean how could you ever improve something, if you don´t have any measure of how you`re doing there?

Awareness is the absolute key.

I´ve been using it for almost a year now. It´s amazing.

Every evening, I`m measuring my Clarity, Energy, Necessity, Productivity, Influence and Courage of that day. Every evening.

At the end of the week, I`m measuring the major life arena´s: my Health, my Mental and Emotional Life, my love Relationship, the connection with my family, my Friendships, my Mission, the Experiences of that week, my Spirit, my Finances, my Learning.

And it´s not about being perfect. That´s not the point.

But what you are measuring can be improved.

So, in case my emotional Life is a 2 out of 10, I can do something to improve that. I can set actionable goals and ways to actually seek out improvement.

That`s how my Life never gets completely out of wack. Because I`m constantly measuring all those major Life Arenas. Which means none of them slip until the point of no return.

But that`s what happens to many people: the only time they actually notice a disharmony in their life is when it´s all too late. When it´s already broken.

But when you`re paying attention regularly, you have the opportunity to intervene way before it completely gets out of control!

5. Demand Greatness

“If you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, that`s when you`ll succeed!” — Eric Thomas

Necessity is the ultimate driver of your Progress. High Necessity, high progress. No Necessity, no progress!

That´s why, for Example, our Productivity soars once a Deadline is nearing.

And there are a few different ways how we can increase our Necessity. Benjamin Hardy calls them Forcing Functions:

#1: High Difficulty

We need to be challenged to actually develop ourselves and move forward. That`s obvious. If you`re doing something you`ve done in the same way thousands of times before, you`re not really growing.

But when you`re challenged, you got to pay attention. You got to be focused. You got to be on. There`s no way out. There`s only going in.

Struggle is necessary. If it doesn`t feel hard at first, it`s not growing you. You`re not progressing yourself.

#2: Novelty

Very similar to High Difficulty. When we`re doing the things we`ve never done before, we really have to pay very close attention. We simply force ourselves to show up as our best. You`re so much more engaged.

And you transform yourself. Because you`re acting against your current mental model through exposing yourself to new ways of doing, thinking and being. You`re actively creating a better YOU!

#3: High Investment

You need to be all in on your Vision. You need to fully invest time, money or effort into that Vision. That way you`re ensuring that you`re going to show up every day in pursuit of that Vision.

And I bet you know someone who has a Dream, but they`re constantly questioning whether they actually should pursue it, right?

Well, they`re never going to really move forward towards that dream, because they`ve got a Plan B. And with a Plan B in mind, Plan A doesn`t get enough mental attention!

And then I bet you`ve also seen people who really had no other choice than to succeed. Those are the ones who just invested a lot in their Dream, so much that there just wasn`t any way to go back.

And that`s, for Example, one of the Reasons why High-Level Coaching works so well. Someone who`s invested tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) into a Coach, they`re not dabbling around. They`re committed. And that´s the reason why they`re going to move forward exponentially!

So how can you fully invest in your Dream — Time, Money or Effort? How can you fully commit to that Dream?

#4: Social Pressure

Our desire for Acceptance is another huge driver of our Performance. I bet you`ve noticed that when you publicly declared that you´re going to pull something of, you`re just more driven to actually work on that thing, right?

It`s like the Author who´s publicly announced to their entire Audience that their Book is coming out on a specific date. They don`t want to let them down. They`ve created Accountability. They`ve fully committed to releasing that Book on that date. They took the guess work out of it.

There`s no more decision to be made. It´s done. And they better get to work.

So how can you create Social Pressure? Maybe by reporting your progress to a mentor? Or by setting a challenging deadline and letting people know about it?

Find your way. And this is not to say that you need Social Pressure for every goal. I value my Freedom. I value my Creativity. So I`m not creating Social Pressure for everything that I do.

And you don`t need to. You can be super-productive without a deadline.

But for the BIG Projects I do. For the ones that totally freak me out. The once I`m otherwise procrastinating on. Because now I just have no other option than to actually pull it of.

For Example as I was creating my newest Online-Course, I publicly announced in March that it was going to be done by the first of May. 

On May first, I uploaded the last video.

And that´s why having a real deadline is so powerful. Because you´re taking away any other option. You`re dead set. There´s no room for negotiation!

#5: High Consequences for poor Performance

“In order to perform at your highest Level, your daily, hourly, minute-to-minute Performance must mean something!” — Benjamin Hardy

You need High Standards for yourself. And consequences for when you`re not meeting that Standard. In other words, you need to hold yourself accountable for the times when you´re not being at your Best.

How can we accomplish that?

Perform in a challenging Environment which forces you to walk the razor`s edge when you`re on. Most people just never reach that highest Level of their Performance, simply because it´s not required of them.

The takeaway: you need Necessity to perform at your Best. No Necessity, no Progress. High Necessity, high Progress!

6. Exponential Thinking

What would it take to 10X your results?

Seriously. What would it take to 10X your results?

What would it take to achieve your 10-year-plan in 6 months? (Quote by Peter Thiel)

Those are questions you should ask yourself regularly. Because it forces you to think completely different. It forces you to reassess your priorities and what`s truly important.

Because 10X isn`t going to be achieved by doing the same things you`re doing now. 10X requires different. 10X requires unique. 10X requires your Best.

And it isn`t quite necessarily about the exact numbers. But you`re now playing an exponential game.

And the question that will ultimately come up: what is it I don`t know that is absolutely critical to my success?

See, chances are very high that you´re currently not equipped with the knowledge, skills or relationships to actually 10X.

So what´s missing? What do you need to do in order to be able to reach that 10X-Level?

As George Bernard Shaw said:

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

Be absolutely unreasonable and ask yourself: what would it take to 10X my results? What would it take to 10X my progress?

7. Actions

“Games are won by players who focus on the playing field — not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard.” — Warren Buffet
“The sure sign of an amateur is he has a million plans and they all start tomorrow.” — Steven Pressfield in “Turning Pro”

Execute, execute, execute. You need a Vision. And a Strategy. And the right Mindset. But once you got that you just need to execute. Consistently.

Consistency is the true needle-mover for exponential progress. Consistency builds Momentum.

Show up — always

Leaders show up. Always. That´s your responsibility. No matter how you feel, Leaders get to work. Doesn`t mean they`re not taking breaks.

But whether you feel inspired or motivated, it´s time to get to work. The sure sign of an amateur is that the amateur is waiting for that big idea or big breakthrough to actually get started.

The Leader is showing up, no matter what. And that`s how they`re generating those amazing Breakthroughs and Ideas. Progress only happens in movement.

You got to show up. No matter what.

Perfect in Movement

“… the act of “perfecting” something comes only after completing and releasing it. They would know “perfection,” if such a thing exists, only happens after the terrible mess of creativity has been waded through with heart and discipline and excellence;
they would know that the real magic happens after a thing is done as best as possible given the time constraints of a true and often terrifying deadline, after it can finally be shared with the world and beaten up and commented on and criticized and iterated;
that the learning only begins once you see your work and art in the hands of others, once you see their eyes shine with joy or squint with confusion.” — Brendon Burchard

Speed matters. Immensely.

You got to create with Excellence. Create something that is Best-In-The-World. And then release it. Because you´re only going to perfect it in movement.

Here´s the big lie of perfectionism: “I can`t release it or get started, because it´s not perfect.”

But here`s what a true perfectionist would say: “Let me get it out there. Let me see what works and what doesn`t. Then let me improve it.”

What`s holding most people back?

Fear. Fear of judgement. Fear of disappointment. Fear of not being good enough.

But in order to perfect it you have to get it out there. Period.

You`re creating in your own tiny bubble. And that´s the right move. But when you´re done, you need to get outside perspective on it. Because you´re always missing the blind spots in your own work.

You need outside perspective. Get it soon. Get it sooner. Release and perfect!

8. Do less better

“Until the one thing is done, everything else is a distraction.” — Gary Keller and Jay Papasan in “the ONE thing”

How distracted are you? Really? 

Simple question, but the answer alone might completely change the quality of your output. 

How many projects are you pursuing all at the same time? How many projects have you started, but never finished? How often do you multitask?

If you got some discouraging answers to those questions, I have very good news for you: You`re in for some BIG Improvement. 

Awareness is always the key. So instead of beating yourself up, because you don`t like the answers, let`s make a real effort to actually remove things from your plate and strategically plan (maybe for the first time ever) to really get you humming along smoothly and rapidly.

Do one thing at a time

The hands-down easiest thing that you can do to move forward faster is to immediately stop multi-tasking. 

In 2009, Clifford Nass saught out to find out the secret of Multitaskers. He called himself a lousy one and was always in awe of those who were capable of multitasking. 

The research team then tested 262 students on a questionnaire and divided them in high and low multitaskers. They expected to find that Multitaskers would perform much better. 

Turns out, they were completely wrong. 

As Nass says: “It turns out that Multitaskers are suckers for irrelevancy” and “Multitaskers were just lousy at everything.”

In other words, whereever you are, be there. 

Multitasking isn`t a way of getting more done. It´s a way of wrecking yourself.

So stop multitasking immediately. You`ll thank yourself later.

9. Be Exceptional

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” — Martin Luther King Jr.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” -Aristotle

Excellence is a habit. It´s is an attitude. It is a way of being. Whatever you do, do it with Excellence.

Excellence only takes a little more effort. It takes a different attitude. And High Standards for yourself. That´s all.

But whatever you do, don`t just do it for the sake of the activity. Do it excellent. Exceptional. Outstanding. Best-in-the-World.

The fastest way to actually reach your Vision is to be Excellent at whatever it is you do. That´s how you build the Business. That´s how you manifacture your Career. That`s how you build your Empire and your Legacy!

It only takes a little bit more time and effort to actually move into the realm of rare-air. Because most aren`t willing to go there. To them, it`s an inconvenience.

For us, it´s where the true treasure lies. This is where you build tight bonds that will last. This is how you will stand out. Forever.

10. Step outside your Comfort Zone

“The fears you run away from run toward you. The fears you don’t own will own you. But behind every fear wall lives a precious treasure.” — Robin Sharma

That next Level in your Life awaits you — on the other side of your fears and insecurities. 

Because in order to get the things you`ve never had, you have to do the things you`ve never done. The things that frighten and scare you. 

That´s how you`re shaping your identity. If you`re doing the scary, hard things regularly, you`ll start to realize how powerful you actually are.

You re-remember your own Superpowers!

And you`ll start leveling up your Ambitions. Because you realize how much more you are actually capable of. You start to question whether your dreams are actually big enough.

But if you`re not facing your fears, you`re not moving to that next Level. That´s where I was stuck for 7 years of my Life.

As a Teenager, I was incredibly shy (like I couldn`t talk in front of 3 people) and very insecure (because I`ve been hurt before). And I hid away. I didn`t want to put myself out there, in fear of being rejected and disappointed again.

So I never did. And what happened?

I made myself small. I was telling this Story of my limited Self over and over and over again. I repeated it often enough until I believed it deep inside of me. 

It became my Reality. That became my World.

How did I overcome that?

At 21, I realized that I can`t continue like that anymore. That I don`t want to anymore. Because I was just so loney at that time, there was no other way than to change.

It was the scariest thing I`ve ever done. But on the other side, I was way more powerful than I ever thought possible. I scaled up my Ambition. And because I allowed myself to dream bigger, I acted bigger and focused on moving my dream forward. 

Busy work isn`t your life`s work. If you dare to scale up your ambition, you`re creating a lot of obstacles for yourself. But you`re also making sure that what you focus on is what truly matters. 

And that´s what real progress all comes down to!

11. Enhance your Strengths, develop your Weaknesses

“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” — Pablo Picasso

There´s this myth that we should only focus on our strengths.

Nothing wrong with developing our strengths. That´s necessary.

But if you`re not fixing the weaknesses that are required to reach your vision, you`re limiting yourself right of the bat.

“What is required to be of service here, and how can I grow into that or lead others to deliver that?” — Brendon Burchard

And when we think about, there`s nothing we`re natural at. We`re not born into these things. We develop our own unqiue style and talents. And there´s nothing you can`t figure out.

Michael Jordan wasn`t born a “pure natural talent”. He just played basketball more than anybody else with an attention to detail almost unmatched by anyone. That´s why he`s one of the best Basketball-Players of all Time. 

The great weren`t born great. They`re just like you and me. But they developed the skills necessary to truly excel at whatever it is they`re doing. That´s how they truly stand out.

So what´s your Skill-Development-Schedule over the next year look like?

If you aren`t aware and intentional about the skills you`re developing over the next year, the skills which are necessary for you to truly excel, this is an easy win. And it will help you become the best at whatever you do.

Because almost no one today is truly focused on Skill Development. With Intention and Attention to Detail.

That´s the difference maker.

12. BIG wins in the Morning

The concept of Momentum is THE most important one when we`re talking about progress. Because when you feel like you have Momentum, everything seems to fall into Place.

And there are two kinds of Momentum. 

There´s Macro-Momentum, which is created by your consistent Actions over time.

And then there`s Micro-Momentum, which is the small Momentum you create every day. This is where winning your Morning comes into play.

Having a strong, powerful Morning Routine is so vitally important. A strong Morning Routine sets you up for being in a peak state of mind all day. We need to gather those small wins every morning.

There are many ways to strengthen yourself in your Morning Routine. But what I want to talk about right now is knocking off your most important thing at the beginning of your workday.

In order to do that, you first need to know what your #1 priority is. What would make this workday exceptional? What is most important right now?

Knock that out of the park first thing of your workday.

Because when you do, you create a lot of Momentum. You gain a lot of Power. Because you did it. And you free your Mind off of that thing. You`re not slowing down your day because you know that you need to do this sometime throughout the day. 

It´s already been done. Now move forward!

13. Recover regularly

“Elite health, creativity, productivity, relationships, and life require complete and regular recovery.” — Benjamin Hardy, PhD

If you`re not recovering each day and weekly, monthly and yearly, you haven`t even touched your full Potential of Productivity, Performance and Creativity!

You`re not progressing as fast as you could.

Just think about a race car: a race car doesn`t need the pit stop. They could go the entire race on one set of tires. 

But the tires are wearing off massively. So in order to maintain that top-speed, they need to refuel and change the tires. Every time they`re on the track.

That`s what you need to do as well. 

The largest Productivity-Study ever done has actually shown that High Performers take breaks every 52 minutes (on average). Every 52 minutes. 

Do they need those breaks? 

Nope. They just could power through their entire day. But in order to preserve your longevity, you`ll need those breaks.

If you want to perform at an elite Level next week, next month, next year and next decade, you`ll need those breaks. Every single day. 

And you also need entire days to refuel. Take at least one day per week off. Give yourself the gift of a regular vacation. Schedule it in and make it happen. 

You`ll be so refreshed when you´re back at work. 

And: your best ideas always come in recovery-time. 


Big ambitions require us to be differently. 

As Rita Mae Brown writes: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

The same level of thinking, feeling and being won`t get us different results.

But the good news is: you`re the only one thinking this way. Most people are completely afraid of asking those questions and doing the work necessary to move their dreams forward exponentially.

Is this easy?

No. But try being mediocre. That`s an even harder game to play.
